Why does Anki cost money now?

Anki is an open-source SRS app available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, as well as iOS and Android. It's free on every platform except iOS, where it costs $24.99 as a means of supporting the rest of the development. At its core, Anki is a flashcard application.
Android Devices
As it was based off the free desktop code I make available, the AnkiDroid developers decided to make the Android version free as well.
The Android version is developed by a different group of people, who based it off the computer version I wrote. Because they have day jobs and can only work on it in their free time, AnkiMobile is better supported: no questions or bug reports go unanswered, the app is more polished, and most bugs get fixed quickly.
The default mode is set on 20 cards per day. This way, you can make sure that you will study as many cards as needed every day and you are not limited to a specific number of cards per day.
The tools you use should not only motivate you to learn, but help you stay on the learning path for as long as possible. Anki doesn't seem to do that for the vast majority of people, which is a major reason why I don't recommend it. But I'm not done yet. Let's move on to the next reason.

Neither Anki nor Quizlet is better than the other, but both apps have different strengths. Students casually studying materials from class are likely to prefer Quizlet, while those looking to build an impressive long-term memory of a subject are likely to prefer Anki.

I personally tried to do 100 new cards per day for a week in the past, but couldn't make it past day 6. If you have sleep, energy, motivation, or focus issues, you'll likely find 100 to be impossible. Still, starting with 40-60 new cards per day in the beginning is likely a good idea, so long as you can sustain it.
Is AnkiApp the same as Anki?
Anki's interface, however, is relatively dated and lacks the intuitive ease of use found in AnkiApp. While both applications have their own strengths, AnkiApp could be considered superior for its modern design, user-friendly interface, extensive library of pre-made decks, and compatibility with different devices.

New Cards: Aim for 30-50 new Anki cards per day. This is a manageable number that allows for consistent learning without overwhelming you. Of course, this can be adjusted depending on your comfort level and the complexity of the material. Review Cards: As for reviewing existing cards, expect around 100-200 cards daily.
This depends on the person, goals and material, but I don't think you should spend 2 hours a day on Anki for language learning. 10-15 minutes a days sounds pretty reasonable to me, more can be overwhelming and contribute to perceiving it as a chore.
By default, Anki will show you a maximum of 20 new cards each day. The reason for this limit is because those cards will need to be reviewed in the coming days - such as the next day, and then a few days after, and so on.

Account Expiry
Because AnkiWeb is a free service, we need to delete data from accounts that have not been used in 6 months or more. If your data is deleted, all of your personal decks and any associated images and sounds will be lost from AnkiWeb.
Confused, I looked up why the developers charge so much for their mobile app, in which they explain that it's because it helps support them due to the full version of Anki is free (which is on multiple OS's) . I love that they do this, and I think they definitely deserved to be supported generously.

If it's a simple text with no pictures, you can also use the Export menu on Quizlet to export a set as text and import to Anki with File > Import using the desktop version. Both add-ons should still work if there no captcha error.
Quizlet is partially free. You can sign-up for a free version and access flashcards with limits. For more advanced features you'll need to buy Quizlet plus. Students used to love Quizlet as, prior to 2022, it was free to create as many flashcards as you liked.
